Lauren Bilzin is a partner in the Restructuring Department and a member of the Hybrid Capital & Special Situations practice. Lauren focuses on distressed investments and liability management transactions, advising sponsors, investors, issuers and creditors in connection with a broad range of sophisticated and bespoke debt, equity and hybrid solutions across the capital structure.
Previously, Lauren served as the Head of U.S. Restructuring and a principal at Davidson Kempner Capital Management, a global institutional alternative investment management firm, where she led the workouts of distressed investments, navigated legal and intercreditor disputes, and structured capital solutions and liability management transactions. She also previously served as Investment Counsel at Serengeti Asset Management. She began her career as a restructuring and finance associate at another leading law firm.
Awards & Recognitions
In 2024, Lauren was named among Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers,” which recognizes the top U.S. attorneys helping companies navigate ailing economies and uncertain times. While at Yale Law School, she was an editor of the Yale Law Journal.
EXPERIENCE
Lauren’s recent representative experience includes:
- Mitel Networks Corporation, a global leader in business communications, in its prepackaged plan of reorganization and voluntary chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas
- Apollo Global Management as sole purchaser of $500 million of senior secured notes issued by Bally’s Corporation to finance the take-private of Bally’s Corporation by Standard General L.P. and its affiliates
- Apollo Global Management in connection with a $1.25 billion secured note financing for Wolfspeed, a leader in the worldwide adoption of silicon carbide and gallium nitride technologies for efficient energy consumption and a sustainable future
- Oak Hill Advisors in connection with a $250 million first lien term loan financing for Emergent Biosolutions, Inc.
- An ad hoc group of lenders of a leading global bioanalytical laboratory involved in projects across all phases of drug development for pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations, in connection with its amendment of its credit agreement to increase the facility amount by $50 million and secure an additional $50 million of junior capital funded by existing shareholders
- An ad hoc group of secured and unsecured creditors of Bausch Health, a multinational healthcare company, in connection with the company’s proposed spin-off of its eyecare business and potential transactions with respect to the company’s funded debt
- Citibank, in its capacity as agent and revolving lender, in the out-of-court restructuring of Rodan & Fields, a producer of cosmetics and personal care products
